Paulaner Brauhaus : My sister took us for lunch at the Paulaner Bräuhaus, not knowing that it was their Oktoberfest day. Having the Oompah band there, with the local German community in their traditional gear, made the occasion! I did get to meet the Brewmaster, Wolfgang Ködel, but he was busy mashing, so did not have too much time to chat. I really enjoyed their Münchner Dunkel.

Perry's Bridge : Perry's Bridge Brew & Grill in Hazyview in the Eastern Transvaal. They have two beers on tap, Lowveld Lager (which was Ok) and Lowveld Ale (which was horrible - it tasted as though the fermentation was not complete at kegging).

Hops Hollow : Hops Hollow Brewery and Guest House is situated on the Long Tom Pass in the Transvaal Drakensberg. Theo de Beer, the brewer, usually has three beers on tap: Digger's Draught, Old Bull Ale and Mac's Porter (I am especially partial to the Mac's Porter :)). Irish Brewpub : Dirk van Tonder is setting up the Irish Brewpub as a memorial to the Irish who assisted and fought with the South African forces during the South African War 1899-1902.
